Standardization

Standardization

We are an active member of more than 200 Standard-Setting Organizations ("SSOs"), industry alliances, associations of science, and open-source communities. As part of our focus on cultivating world-class technical talent, we have built a team of experts in relevant technologies who are familiar with international standardization policies and active in international standardization activities relevant to our business. We have submitted more than 100,000 international and domestic standardization proposals and research papers. We have more than 100 experts who are or have served as Chairman, Reporter, and other important positions in SSOs, and have hundreds of employees who have served as Editors of international standards.

We are a major participant and contributor in global 5G technical research and standard-setting activities. In 3GPP, our employees serve as Chairman of RAN3, Vice-Chairman of RAN2 and CT4, and as Reporters for several technical standards, such as NOMA, 2-Step RACH, CoMP, 5G Network Slice Enhancement, and the 5G Future Factory. Among the more than 40,000 international standardization proposals that we have submitted to 3GPP, more than 20,000 proposals are related to 5G NR/5GC, and we obtained more than 80 3GPP Reporter seats.

We were elected as the member of the ETSI Board in December of 2020 and as Vice Chairman of the ETSI NFV Technical Committee in April of 2023. In ITU-T, we are working to drive the approval of standards relating to such technologies as active network threat defense, 5G packet, and optical transmission technology, and our employees serve as the Chief Editor of several technical standards. For the first time, we have incubated the Adlik open-source community in the Linux Foundation's AI Foundation (LF AI) to accelerate the industrialization of artificial intelligence applications. In June of 2023, we were elected as new Chairman of the Linux Foundation's LF AI & Data Board.
